Dr. Mark Beerenstrauch, DVM (Dr. B) grew up in a small town in DeWitt, Nebraska. He graduated with a Business Management degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, and then completed veterinary school at Kansas State University School in 2004.
Dr. B has been practicing veterinary medicine in Las Vegas since he graduated, and he is currently a member of the American Veterinary Association, the American Association of Feline Practitioners, and the American Veterinary Dental Society. His past experience includes many years as lead veterinarian at Durango Animal Hospital in Las Vegas. Dr. B has a passion for preventative wellness and breed-specific screening. He believes the medical and preventative care for a three-pound Chihuahua and a 180-pound Great Dane should be as different as their sizes.
Babas and JB are two special needs animals that Dr. B has adopted over the years. Babas is a one-eyed Pekingese, and JB is a three-legged cat.
Originally from New Orleans, LA. Lived in Baton Rouge while attending LSU for undergraduate studies in Animal Science and then veterinary school. After graduating from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010, moved to Las Vegas to begin practicing small animal medicine at another busy veterinary practice in town. Currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Professional interests include: internal medicine, dentistry, ultrasound, small animal surgery. Outside of the office, she enjoys hiking and visiting national parks (with a goal to visit all 58 in the USA someday), traveling, movies, local restaurants and spending time her pets, Hector (her chihuahua-terrier mix) and Callie (her calico DSH). She believes that this profession is about truly about helping people through helping their pets.
Dr. Jennifer Yates has lived all over the country, but calls Las Vegas, Nevada her home. She spent her elementary school years in Las Vegas before relocating with her family to Louisiana. Dr. Yates obtained her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Animal/Dairy Sciences both from Louisiana State University. After working as a veterinary technician for a year, Dr. Yates returned to Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine where she obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Yates began her veterinary career here in Las Vegas before moving to the East Coast. After practicing in Long Island, New York for a few years, she was more than ready to leave the cold winters and return back to sunny Las Vegas. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Nevada Veterinary Medical Association and holds licenses to practice in both Nevada and New York.
Dr. Yates resides in Las Vegas with her husband Clint and their “fur kids”; 3 Boxers (Abby, Daizi and Zephyr), a Border Collie (Perk) and a Yorkshire terrier (Bling). They also share their home with a very talkative African Grey parrot (Nala) and a Quarter Horse (Derby).
Special areas of interest include soft tissue surgery, acupuncture, dentistry, behavior training, and pain management. She also has a strong interest in dog training and canine sports medicine. Dr. Yates is an avid canine sports enthusiast and an active competitor in agility, obedience, tracking, and herding events. When not out running with the dogs, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and horseback riding.
Mama Kitty is a 5-year-old domestic shorthair. Mama Kitty was abandoned in a suitcase with two kittens at a hospital where Dr. B used to work. Her kittens were quickly adopted, and Mama Kitty and Dr. B soon developed a bond. Mama Kitty’s interests include temptation treats, carrying toys, and tearing into the food bags at the hospital. You may see Mama Kitty around the hospital. She often prefers to hang out on top of a counter and observe, but don’t hesitate to say hello if you see her.
